like my wife did and break off the tip. It does require a some care, but
is well worth it. It stays so sharp! You will hardly use any other knife
in your rack. It fits in your hand great and is nice an light. You do not want it any larger for safety sake. The price is great compared to other name brand $100+ knives. Do not freak when the carbon steel cutting edge discolors, as this is natural. The only thing is that when you wash it off(never diswasher), you must towel dry it right away or that carbon steel will rust. I purchased a $10.00 2" x 3" diamond block sharpener for it that I use maybe once a month to keep it razor sharp. If you are the cook in the household like me, you will use this baby all day long.

And since they advertise a "limited lifetime warranty" I figured I go straight to the manufacturer for a replacement. Bad idea. I contacted them in early January 2007 and no one got back to me. Then in early February I contacted them again. When I called they told me to email them describing the issue. I did and after a couple weeks and a lot of frustration I called back. This time I was told to send an email. Oh, what a surprise. I explained that I already sent an email and I was told that they were going through some changes and I was assured that someone would respond to my email this time. So I sent yet another email describing the problem. But unlike the previous emails, this one received a response. The email asked that I submit their return authorization form, which I completed and faxed back. Over two months later and I'm still wondering when this knife will be replaced.
So what good is a "warranty" if you can't get in touch with the company so they can honor their warranty?

World Kitchen/Ekco 1045559 Peeler Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this wonderful little peeler for at least a couple decades. I can't recall where I got it and it has no brand imprinted on it. It still works fine and is still very sharp. The problem is that it has become somewhat rusty and badly stained and looks bad with the other tools in the kitchen drawer. So, my wife and I were visiting our local Ace Hardware and noticed this Ekco Peeler. It was bright, shiny and new and we were delighted to find another to replace our aging peeler.
Our old peeler is almost identical to the new Ekco model, except in a few details. I'd say they probably came out of the same factory except that the old one has "Made in the USA" stamped on it. I threw away the new package, but I suspect it would have "Made in China" on it.
Well, fortunately, we didn't toss the old peeler. It's far superior to the new one. It's far sharper and will peel potatoes, carrots and what not all far faster and with less effort. Go figure. This new one is a little piece of junk compared with our old rusted and badly stained peeler. If we ever throw one away, it will be this Ekco model.

10.5" COMMERCIAL RESTAURANT STEAMER RACK / COOLING RACK Review

(More customer reviews)This rack is misidentified as a "steamer" as it is actually merely a cooling rack. The very first time I used it in water it rusted and stained a brand new stainless steel pot I had just purchased for $100. It is cheap pot metal which is not designed to be used with water or with steam. It rusted so fast it seemed almost magical.
An important note:
The company selling this rack through Amazon on this page at time of posting (MV Trading Co.) does not back up its sales. They simply say "we never said it was stainless" as if selling a steamer which can't be used as a steamer is excusable if you don't explicitly claim it won't rust out the very first time you use it. This company is highly unprofessional in my experience and I would recommend avoiding them at all costs.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item to replace my electric steamer that formerly got a lot of use. After getting this item I haven't had a use for my steamer since. It works well. It is simple and easy to clean. There is an added bonus to this little guy. If you flip it over and put it on your counter it works well to thaw meat on. The metal pulls the cold out of the meat quickly and the little holes allow airflow around the frozen meat. I have been thawing 1lb tubes of ground beef in about an hour. Great item. Amazon and the Wok Shop are both great too.

Bron Chef's Mandolin with Feet Review

(More customer reviews)I had hoped that this would be it, the One, the mandolin I keep. It's going back, though, because the permanent blades responsible for the success of the cutting operation aren't sharp enough to consistently cut. Super sharp replaceable blades in different sizes are great, but half the equation is in the permanent blades. These are too dull to complete a good cut...so dull that the operation becomes quite dangerous, even with the provided pusher. Overall the unit is high-quality and sturdy. If a little extra attention had been put into the blades the high price tag would have been acceptable, but because of the dullness of important blades, this mandolin doesn't perform any better than the 35 dollar version rendered in plastic. Too bad!

The blades bend easily out of place when chopping anything substantial like carrots, nuts etc. You have to bend the blades back by hand in order to get it reassembled after cleaning. This poses a risk of injury, and it is not easy to get the in the exact position to fit the blade guide. Unfortunately, I could not return it because I didn't save the original box.
If you only need it for garlic, herbs and the like, it should serve you well. Otherwise,Emson Chop Genie Food Chopper As Seen on tv I would go for another chopper with stronger blades.

I have weak closing strength and pain in my hands which makes it hard to impossible to use the conventional rotating or moving blade type of peeler. This type is called a French peeler or fixed blade peeler and it works great by transferring the motion from thumb and fingers to the wrist and lower arm. Yes, it does take a little getting used to but once you master your own technique it's actually much faster and certainly less painful to use.

(More customer reviews)This comes just as pictured with the bottle and the spout. It has a rubber graduated stopper, so it could fit on slightly smaller bottle tops if desired. The oil stream comes out perfectly, not too fast, not too slow. It doesn't have the cover on the tip like more expensive models, but the curved style prevents dust from falling into the bottle anyway, so it hasn't been a problem whatsoever. The bottle is a rugged, thick glass, and the spout is rugged as well. I've knocked the bottle over by accident several times without incident. And no oil has spilled out when it has fallen over either. As far as the oil going rancid, no problem with mine. I've had it for a couple of months and haven't had any change in taste. I'm no connoisseur, but honestly, this just doesn't even seem to be a problem. Perhaps over a really long time it would be? At this price, you could just add a cork for a cover if you were really worried. I LOVE this product. I keep two of these on the stovetop, one with EVOO and one with vegetable oil. It looks so nice, and it is so so handy. GREAT purchase!
I plan on getting several, adding garlic to one, home dried thyme to another, basil to a third, etc... a little drizzle and a bit of vinegar yield endless salad dressing options, or a little drizzle on pasta and a bit of cheese, or a toasted crusty bread with a flavored oil drizzled over the top, a slice of tomato and mozzarella cheese melted up on top... mmmmm

(More customer reviews)I bought two of these tagines--total impulse buy, as we were looking for ways to steam food. They have been an integral part of my kitchen ever since. Spray them with cooking spray, add some fish cut into chunks(we have tried tilapia and salmon thus far), thinly sliced vegetables and spices (I have been experimenting with making my own ras el hanout), put it in the oven at 360, and in 20-25 minutes, dinner is ready!
Comes with a small recipe book that suggests microwave use, but we would rather use the oven. Overall, the tagine makes moist, flavorful low-fat, low calorie meals that don't taste low-fat, low calorie!
Definitely one of my better impulse buys!
