The plastics in other hoses contain lead and plasticizers that get in the water and are harmful to humans--so they carry a warning label. I researched what hoses to use that are drinking safe and found this to be the one I like best. I just got my gatorhydes, so I will update this review if I come across anything unexpected later. So far I am happy with these benefits:
* Safer: Plastic and end fittings are drinking water safe. The hose does not smell noticeably or impart a taste to the water I can detect. Better for your family.
* Greener: Made with 50% recycled materials and very tough so it may not need to be replaced as often. Better for mother earth--and your wallet.
* Stronger: Carries a limited lifetime warranty, maker says it is up to 3X more durable, withstands 165 degrees below zero.
* Lighter than what I had by a significant margin.
* Easier to move--does not get stuck as easy.
Many other drinking safe hoses I found were made for boats and RVs--did not have all the advantages above, and were too thin or wimpy for my use. "Water Right" brand hoses were also interesting and also made from drinking safe polyurethane. I will try them as well.

Originally I applied it in shade and it cleared out all the weeds growing up through a stone pathway (pea gravel)- strong citrus smell lasts for a few moments when applied in large doses but that's it - if you would like to have an alternative to Round Up and Ortho and stop killing and mutating tadpoles and frogs and spoiling the water with excessive chemicals and run off - this product is a good alternative - if every lawn owner got off of chemlawn and scotts 4 step program and used Bradefield Organic Fertilizers, corn gluten and alfalfa we would go a long way to restoring our environment - yes you Mr and Mrs home owner are the one to make the difference - my lawn is just as green as my chemically drenched neighbors - change your habits, try something new and change the world one lawn at a time!

Garden snails love it, but I just soak the leaves in a tub of water with a tsp. bleach and it kills them and their eggs. All the seeds were viable. I planted them in a more moist area of the garden, and also a sandy/dry area, and both places it did excellent. Greensmoothiegirl.com has some great recipes for using kale in smoothies, and the energy kale gives you is UNBELIEVABLE. Kale is a garden essential, it packs the most nutrition ever. And, now that we've had our first frost it is taking on more flavor. And it looks kind pretty.

I have a friend who grows for the local farmers market and uses Mega Green exclusively and is totally awed with the results on everything from potatoes, corn, beans, onions, apples, blueberries, grapes, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots.... and you name it. Fruits and vegetables are noticeably larger and tastier with more abundant berries per stem. Plants are huge. I have used it on my lawn and it is beautiful and healthier. We are using it this season on our garden and are seeing good results already. It took the yellow out of my bean leaves in a day... Great Product. I am sure you won't be disappointed. O yes... I have seen the Portland Rose Garden where this is used (Shakespeare Garden area) and it is beautiful.

It could have been the heat of the deck, but we water every day and the Mediterranean cucumbers came up great. Usually lettuce is easy to grow, but I guess that this type is a little more difficult or needs specific growing conditions.

Always sow lettuce in cool weather. If you are wondering why it's called Valentine Mix it is because all of the varieties are red or at least partly red. This packet contains Lolla Rossa, Marveille de Quatre Saisons, Redina, Red Oakleaf, Red Salad Bowl, Rouge d'Hilver and Rueben's Red.

3 Lb. Nitrogen Packed Can of Certified Organic Unshelled Sunflower sprouting seed. Prime-quality, high germination, specially selected, microbial tested. Fresh, crunchy sprouts in 3 to 5 days! Nutritional info: Vitamins A, B, C and E Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Niacin, Phosphorus, Potassium Protein: 25%. Instructions for Sprouting: Sunflower Lettuce may be grown by placing the soaked drained seed close together (single layer only) on the top of 1 inch of rich, damp, organic soil. A pie plate works well as a container. Cover with 8 layers of wet, black and white newspaper and place in a black plastic bag for 3 days. Remove the bag and paper and place in dim light for 2 days. For the balance of the time move to a window or a place with very good lighting. Sprinkle lightly or mist with water once per day. DO NOT saturate. Harvest in 7 to 10 days when the hulls fall off, the leaves open and they have a lush, green appearance. Cut off at the roots, rinse and refrigerate in an airtight container. Sunflower Lettuce is a favorite mainstay for all salads.
