So, I don't think I did anything wrong- water, temperature, ph and fertilizer were all considered, yet this basil DID NOT GERMINATE. Hirt's Oregano however, is growing strong.

Sow these seeds where they will remain as cilantro resents transplanting and will bolt, go to seed much faster than it needs to. The fabulous taste of Cilantro leaves then turns into Coriander seeds. This is an easy seed for beginners and so tasty.

(More customer reviews)The sales blurb for this type of pumpkin doesn't do it justice. This is an old variety from Australia, the pumpkins are good to store over winter, the skin is a blue grey with deep orange flesh. Excellent to eat as a vegetable (steam, roast, turn into soup, add to stirfry, curries). Plant in ground after last frost and cultivate as other pumpkins, ie plenty of room and feeding. If you only use these for carving you are missing out on a great tasting vegetable and wasting it! Have no idea about this company's seeds, but the pumpkin itself is a good eating pumpkin.

It could have been the heat of the deck, but we water every day and the Mediterranean cucumbers came up great. Usually lettuce is easy to grow, but I guess that this type is a little more difficult or needs specific growing conditions.

Always sow lettuce in cool weather. If you are wondering why it's called Valentine Mix it is because all of the varieties are red or at least partly red. This packet contains Lolla Rossa, Marveille de Quatre Saisons, Redina, Red Oakleaf, Red Salad Bowl, Rouge d'Hilver and Rueben's Red.

Cabbage Chinese Michihili [ Brassica Rapa ] is a heirloom plant that has conical heads are 18 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It has green and white leaves and stems. The heads are crisp, tender and weigh 3-5 lbs, and they have a good flavor and blanch well. The crunchy, pale colored hearts are delicious chopped and eaten raw in a salad, or it can be boiled like ordinary Cabbage. Used in stir fry dishes and other Asian dishes. Also used to make coleslaw. The most strongly flavored variety is garden or belleville sorrel, also called sour dock and sour grass. The mildest variety is dock sorrel (spinach dock or herb patience dock). As sorrel matures it becomes more acidic. Sorrel leaves are shaped like spinach leaves and range in color from pale to dark green. The leaves are very high in vitamin C and have many uses. Young, tender spring leaves can be used as a salad green, and are also used in cream of sorrel soup. Sorrel can be cooked like spinach, or mixed with cooked spinach or chard for a sharp, lemony flavor. Fresh leaves are used by some to soothe canker sores.

When planting make sure your soil isn't soggy, just consistently moist. If the seeds spend too much time in cold soggy soil they will rot.

Jiffy 5048 36-Plant Pellet Refill Review

(More customer reviews)I thought I was ordering the larger peat pellets more suitable for tomato and bean seeds. Instead, these are the smaller ones more suitable for smaller seeds, measuring around 1.5" across. But that is OK because these work great for germination sets and later transplants and I use smaller sizes, too. When these are saturated with water the peat inside the mesh holds for the duration of the root growing period.
I use aluminum baking pans with clear plastic lids as mini greenhouses. These are a lot cheaper than those plastic germination sets for sale everywhere.
This product is made in Canada.

These little darlin's were sent out the day AFTER I ordered them. Cudos to Renee Shepherd (AND USPS)! Now regarding the order: the packaging states that there are 25 seeds per packet, but by golly, there were 26 in there! (Now, I've had every kind of shipping oops and heartbreak you can think of since the onset of on-line shopping, but that extra little seed put a grin on my face. I can live with that!) They were nice healthy looking seeds, too...not those little, flat, useless ones. Here's to seeing how well they grow...
This was the perfect transaction and order. :-)
