Heirloom Red and Yellow Mini Pear Heirloom Tomato Seeds 40 Seeds Review

Heirloom Red and Yellow Mini Pear Heirloom Tomato Seeds 40 Seeds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These were very easy to grow. I only planted half the seeds, but each one sprouted! I started them out in little Jiffy system plastic greenhouse in peat pellets and, following the seed packet directions, replanted them into deeper pots when they were a couple of inches tall, burying them up to the leaves. That was only last week and they've grown an inch or two and look very healthy with good leaves. The red tomato seeds are dyed red, so you can tell them from the yellow tomato seeds. These will get quite tall - over six feet if you let them - but the vines are not too heavy, so plan on some type of light support. I'll put these in the garden, but I imagine a large planter would also work. To me, these have a sweeter, deeper tomato flavor than the usual cherry & grape tomato varieties. Well worth your effort.

I'm a gardener, and have planted many seeds which grow into beautiful plants.
So, I don't think I did anything wrong- water, temperature, ph and fertilizer were all considered, yet this basil DID NOT GERMINATE. Hirt's Oregano however, is growing strong.

HERBS: Treat yourself to fresh herbs right from your garden! The difference when home grown is impressive! All are excellent for adding distinctive flavor to meat, and fish dishes, gravies, soups, salads and vegetables. They are fun to grow and make an attractive garden addition!
Genovese Sweet Basil. Ocimum basilicum
Perfect for pesto because of its concentrated flavor, the medium-large leaves have a fine, sweet fragrance. Spicy, edible flowers accent a salad. Tall, relatively uniform, slow to bolt. Sow 1-2 seeds per inch in garden when danger of frost has passed, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost date. Requires warm conditions for germination and growth. Basils are very susceptible to cold soil and frosts. Harvesting tips. Pinch off flower heads to keep productive. Harvest leaves during season, entire plant first frost. Order came in very quickly, however the germination rate is extremely low. I am using a hydroponic system in which everything else germinates quickly and efficiently, and these seeds just don't really want to grow.

Sow these seeds where they will remain as cilantro resents transplanting and will bolt, go to seed much faster than it needs to. The fabulous taste of Cilantro leaves then turns into Coriander seeds. This is an easy seed for beginners and so tasty.

Compact Winter Squash Seeds - Early Butternut & Delicata Review

Compact Winter Squash Seeds - Early Butternut and Delicata
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for an early butternut squash to try out. Now it arrived as a dual packet and sure enough so it says but for some reason I didn't catch on to that. The problem with it being a dual item is we have only room for 1 to 2 plants at best and probably can not tell if the plants that come up are going to be butternut or the delicata? To use it does matter.
Otherwise I am glad to have found a shorter season winter squash and who knows perhaps if it turns out to be delicata we'll find we like it as much or more. Until then....I don't think mixed seeds are such a great idea. You'd sell more....plus I don't want to make my own hybrids.

Kale Siberian Heirloom Seeds 175 Seeds Review

Kale Siberian Heirloom Seeds 175 Seeds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This kale has been great, although a little more bitter tasting than I anticipated. It is not for the faint hearted! Garden snails love it, but I just soak the leaves in a tub of water with a tsp. bleach and it kills them and their eggs. All the seeds were viable. I planted them in a more moist area of the garden, and also a sandy/dry area, and both places it did excellent. Greensmoothiegirl.com has some great recipes for using kale in smoothies, and the energy kale gives you is UNBELIEVABLE. Kale is a garden essential, it packs the most nutrition ever. And, now that we've had our first frost it is taking on more flavor. And it looks kind pretty.

Introduced well over a hundred years ago by Russian traders this vegetable is one of the most nutritious greens available. Although you can use it in stews and soups it is easier and quicker to just sautee with olive oil and garlic. Like most greens it likes the cool seasons to perform its best. This packet contains enough seeds for a 25 foot row.

Lettuce Seeds Valentine Blend Certified Organic Seeds 1000 Seeds
Average Reviews:

I had recently purchased a pot full of various lettuce types and had hoped to grow a similar one of my own with this lettuce mix. I planted them, but nothing came up. It could have been the heat of the deck, but we water every day and the Mediterranean cucumbers came up great. Usually lettuce is easy to grow, but I guess that this type is a little more difficult or needs specific growing conditions.

The seeds arrived in a small, plastic, zip-lock bag & I sowed some of them in a 12" pot along with white radish, white carrot & chamomille seeds. (The pot also contained 1 strawberry & 5 echinacea plants.) I have no idea how well this combination is going to do together, so we'll see. (I like to experiment!) I'll report back later.

Also, I believe Hirts Gardens is #1 here at Amazon in speed - getting the order processed.

Luffa Gourd Heirloom Seeds Review

Luffa Gourd Heirloom Seeds
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I didnt actually think we would get sponges out of this. I thought for sure that we would be making funny looking bird houses out of these, but sure enough-- we let the suckers turn color on the vines, and after cutting them off and letting them dry out, we peeled back the skin and found spongy material inside. The seeds just fell out, and we rinsed them, bleached them, and now we have cute little sponges to give for gifts or use at home. Prolific and wonderful. Once danger of frost is over, just stick them in the ground about 1 1/2 inch and water well and then ignore for about a month except for watering and you'll get a sprout. Dont even bother with seed starter mixes-- they'll rot.
