(More customer reviews)The cold frame has served its purpose very well. I can use it as a starting point for plants and be well ahead and hopefully more economical with plant purchases.
There is a problem with the doors. The henge design does not work well so every time one of the tops is lifted it becomes misaligned and will not drop back into place without a great deal of careful realignment. This problem might be easily remedied by engineering larger interlocking henges (greater diameter, smaller slit).
I'd also suggest that the person who writes the assembly instructions should assemble one or two of the units before writing the directions. While I'm not sure I could do better, I might suggest color coding better lettering of parts. Permanent marks would help as I need to disassemble the unit in hot weather for storage and reassemble it next fall.
So, I'd recommend this product with the above reservations.

If it had been assembled it still would have been a disappointment. Granted I am not a carpenter I guess if I was I would have made it myself in the first place and saved 70 dollars and a lot of time. If you buy it and find assembly a breeze please respond and I will retract this and come to the realization that I do indeed have a very limited ability to do even simple tasks.

The plastics in other hoses contain lead and plasticizers that get in the water and are harmful to humans--so they carry a warning label. (More customer reviews)We have slugs in our garden and besides eating up the leaves of any flowers and vegetables we try to grow, they are just disgusting creatures, especially if you touch or step on one by accident.
These pellets work very fast and I was surprised at how quickly they attracted the gastropods. Within 24 hours of application, I discovered 7 or 8 fleshy, thumb-sized slugs along with several smaller slugs around the bait area, all in the process of dying (which I quickly skewered with a rod and deposited in the trash). The small slugs (macaroni-sized), I've seen numerous times under rocks and flower pots. The big slugs though, I have never seen until using the Ortho Bug-geta. I also noticed dead snail (very small ones) around the baited area.
Safety Precautions:

These pellets look like pet food or Grape Nuts, so apply with care if you have pets or small children. The poison warnings are clearly labeled on the box, so I do not deduct points for the toxicity of this product. Common sense, caution, and ample hand-washing (or gloves) goes without saying when handling any kind of hazardous chemical.
All family members should also be informed of the area being treated in order to minimize accidental ingestion. These pellets shouldn't be used around vegetables and foliage to be eaten, so instead, set up a snail perimeter around your garden. Baiting near shady, moist areas works best as that is the slug and snail's favorite environment.
Summary:
- highly effective and fast-acting slug/snail attractant. I saw results in less than 24 hours.
- use caution when handling, as with any potentially hazardous chemical
- looks like pet food pellets, so make sure to keep your cats, dogs and small children away from the garden while treating
- metaldehyde (the active compound in this formulation) has little effect on earthworms, which are beneficial to gardeners. I did get some earthworm by-kill though. 2 dead
- contains Bitrex, the most bitter substance known, to deter pets from ingesting this bait.
I have no pets or small children and live in an urban setting, so poisoning of unintended animals and wildlife is not an issue.

(More customer reviews)I bought two bottles of Safer 3 in 1 to put in my garden to get rid of cucumber beetles, mostly, and a few other assorted pests. Last night, I used over one bottle with only one application. I soaked the whole plant, just like it told me to do. I followed every instruction. First of all, the bottle stopped working when it was 2/3 empty, making it impossible to spray. That was annoying, but not a reason I wouldn't buy it again. However, today I went out to my garden, and the cucumber beetles are everywhere! Clearly, it had no effect whatsoever. I still see lots of crickets, as well, which it was supposed to kill.
So not only is this product pricey (I paid $8 for a bottle, not including shipping, and you're supposed to apply it once a week), but it doesn't work at all! I hope I can find something organic that actually does work!

Maybe we don't really have a pest problem, but if we do, this organic spray has prevented nearly any damage to our plants as a result of insects, etc. The concentrated spray will last us for several years--you need only a tablespoon per quart of water. We typically use about 2 tablespoons worth every 2-3 weeks on a garden that is 30' x 60'. Great to have a product that is safe, convenient and effective to use.

I've always had a small problem with squirrels in my roses, but they only ate the ones that were easy to get to and I was content to let them have them, since there were so many others. Then an adolescent squirrel fell in love with them and braved the thorns to eat EVERY ROSE on my bushes. He'd wait until new roses budded and snatch them before they bloomed, no matter how high they were. He'd pull stalks over to get them and was wrecking my bushes. As an animal lover, I knew that I had to find an alternative I could live with.
Deer Off is amazing. I sprayed it ONCE (about 6 weeks ago) and the squirrels now give my plants wide berth. The smell must be offensive to them, but the scent is mild to my human nose and faded to nothing about a minute after spraying. I HIGHLY recommend it. I didn't expect it to work this well!

We acquired an old one years ago that was very used when we got it, and used it for years and years after without any problems. It got lost in a move; otherwise I would still be using it. The implements on this on bend very easily. I would have thought they would have at least been heat-treated/tempered. The frame also flexes and bends very easy. I am going to rework/reinforce this one since we bought it and make some new attachments, but would not have to do this if it was built right from the beginning. Keep looking

Pyrethrin Spray Concentrate, 1 Pt Review

We live in an apartment complex and bugs, especially roaches has always been a problem. We hate using raid around pets and especially in the kitchen so I decided to look into this.
Pros: It works. Doesn't kill within 5 seconds like raid does, but it does kill within about 45 seconds with direct spraying. It's natural/biodegradable so I don't really expect it to work quite as fast, but it DOES work, for sure. I even sprayed a few and trapped them under a glass and checked them later to make sure they were dead.
Cons: This stuff breaks down really fast in direct light. We used an opaque (non-see-through) white plastic sprayer because I knew this was an issue. It's actually a pro for me that it breaks down in direct light so it's not building up toxins in your house. But, even after using a non-see-through spraying container the stuff lost it's potency after about a week of it just sitting in the sprayer. I have a new small metal sprayer that I'm going to try and see if it works any better.
The container it ships in also leaks if knocked over so watch that. Took me like 2 days to figure out what that intense pepper smell was before I noticed the bottle had tipped over.

(More customer reviews)Other reviewers have rated the product poorly based on the ridiculously high price. While it is true that this kit can be had for under $6 elsewhere (I bought mine at Home Depot for about $5), the product is excellent and some comments should be made about that.
This product is *identical* to other greenhouse kits sold on Amazon under the names "Carefree Jiffy Greenhouse", "Ferry-Morse Seed #5272 Pro Greenhouse Kit", and perhaps there are others floating about with different names and prices. Indeed unusual but nevertheless they are all the same.
You get (72) peat disks, each clad in a fine biodegradable netting, in an 11" x 22" plastic tray. A clear plastic lid is included. Add (2) quarts of warm water, the disks expand, pencil-push your seeds in, blanket the seeds with peat harvested from the pellets, lid the tray and place in indirect sunlight until the seedlings grow about 2", move outside and prop open the lid in partial sun, then transplant in about a week or less.
I've been using this for vegetables -- everything from tomatoes, beans, corn, pumpkins, even carrots (snipping off the bottom pellet mesh with a scissor before transplanting). Everything grows well and fast and, for me, it's more determinate and satisfying than sowing seeds directly into the soil.
The plastic is recyclable -- #1 or #2, I think -- so either dispose of responsibly or keep reusing (as I do) by purchasing bundles of the pellets which are cheap and sold separately.
On a final note, if one wanted to replicate the kit themselves it would be quite easy. The "internals" of the Jiffy kit are the aforementioned plastic tray which has (2) parts -- a 2" deep tray and a lightly perforated rectangle of plastic with circular depressions for the disks seated inside. When the water is added the internal tray raises and floats. You could use an ordinary baking pan for the external tray and non-cardboard egg cartons with a few tiny holes punched in the bottom. Roll and pack small balls of peat and wrap each in thin cheesecloth. Place the balls in the egg cartons and snip an opening on the top to place the seeds. Cover the tray with clear plastic wrap. Transplant the balls.

I also like that it is natural so that I can use it around lake water.
I would buy it again.
