(More customer reviews)This kale has been great, although a little more bitter tasting than I anticipated. It is not for the faint hearted! Garden snails love it, but I just soak the leaves in a tub of water with a tsp. bleach and it kills them and their eggs. All the seeds were viable. I planted them in a more moist area of the garden, and also a sandy/dry area, and both places it did excellent. Greensmoothiegirl.com has some great recipes for using kale in smoothies, and the energy kale gives you is UNBELIEVABLE. Kale is a garden essential, it packs the most nutrition ever. And, now that we've had our first frost it is taking on more flavor. And it looks kind pretty.

Introduced well over a hundred years ago by Russian traders this vegetable is one of the most nutritious greens available. Although you can use it in stews and soups it is easier and quicker to just sautee with olive oil and garlic. Like most greens it likes the cool seasons to perform its best.
