THIS is the Louisiana Italian's Green Eggplant, Cucuzzi, or Gugguzzi! Male fruit (with small blossom scar) is milder and has fewer seeds -none?- than Female fruit (larger blossom scar). Peeled, cut into long 1-inch thich 'fries', dry-wet-dry breaded with white/yellow corn meal-milk/eggwash-white/yellow corn meal, and then 'deep' fried will change the mind of the most stubborn vegetable hater! The 'other' Italian Green Eggplant (also called Cucuzzi sometimes) is in fact the 'Trombisno' (Trombone) Squash. Younger fruit are similar, but older fruit will twist and turn; often even looping back upon themselves! The trobisino's flesh is firmer and milder (not as flavorful).
