Iceland poppy wildflower is not as hardy as its name implies. It is used extensively in the southeast, since a fall seeding will create a lavish spring display, but the plants are unable to live through the hot summer that follows. It is also used as a favorite bedding plant in California. In colder climates, Iceland poppy performs like a perennial for two or three years. Grows from up to about 2 feet and blooms in its first year from Iceland poppy wildflower seed. It has coarse, divided leaves at the base. The fragrant flowers are have a shimmering and lovely form. Available in single or double, and white with yellow, red, orange, rose or apricot markings. This is a short-lived perennial wildflower often grown as an annual. Iceland poppy wild flower seeds should be sown at a temperature of 55 degrees and transplanting seedlings should be done very carefully. Division may be done in mid-spring. All parts of this wildflower seed plant are poisonous.
