Compact Winter Squash Seeds - Early Butternut & Delicata Review

Compact Winter Squash Seeds - Early Butternut and Delicata
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for an early butternut squash to try out. Now it arrived as a dual packet and sure enough so it says but for some reason I didn't catch on to that. The problem with it being a dual item is we have only room for 1 to 2 plants at best and probably can not tell if the plants that come up are going to be butternut or the delicata? To use it does matter.
Otherwise I am glad to have found a shorter season winter squash and who knows perhaps if it turns out to be delicata we'll find we like it as much or more. Until then....I don't think mixed seeds are such a great idea. You'd sell more....plus I don't want to make my own hybrids.

Micro Tom Tomato 15 Seeds - Worlds Smallest Review

Micro Tom Tomato 15 Seeds - Worlds Smallest
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I grow at least 5 proven performers in NC for main season and 5 new varieties each year. I also grow at least 2-3 cherry tomatoes and Micro Tom had a lot of appeal for possible winter (indoor) use. Pros: Plant is small, prostrate and quite pretty with many, many flowers.
Cons: Tomatoes have very tough skins and flesh and have a rather unique bitter taste with little tomato flavor that I (or wife) expect and would eat out of hand. Could possibly be adapted to some kind of salad but this would be a stretch.
Summary: Decorative and nice to look at in January I would think.

TOMATO: Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and the seeds are high in fiber. The green parts are mildly poisonous, which is not surprising, as tomatoes are closely related to both nightshade and tobacco. The tomato was originally believed to be poisonous when introduced into Europe, and was used solely as an ornamental plant during the 16th and 17th centuries. The first traces of its use as a food date back to the first half of the 18th century. Tomatoes are now a tasty ingredient in many dishes, and are used fresh, canned, stewed or even sun-dried.
Tomato Micro-Tom. The world's smallest tomato plant. Plant only grows between 6-8 inches in height. Fruit is red and one inch in diameter. Succulent sweet flavor. Excellent for hanging containers, pots, small gardens, or indoor window sill.

Fourth of July Tomato 4 Plants - Ripens in 44 days Review

Fourth of July Tomato 4 Plants - Ripens in 44 days
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I always grew these from seed and had great success. These are a staple in my tomato garden. Since I stopped growing from seed, I couldn't find these at any nurseries so I had to start ordering the plants online.
I purchased 4th of July from Hirt's Garden the past 2 years and both times the plants arrived with black spots on their leaves. No way was I putting them in and spreading whatever they had to my other plants. The first year I thought was just a fluke, but after last year, no more. I was able to order from Burpee this year instead, and from now on. I will just order them earlier when they have them in stock

GOURD: Plant gourds if for no other reason than because they're fun! They come in a delightful, wacky array of shapes, colors, and sizes and are sure to bring a smile when you harvest them. Many will grow up fences and trellises, which makes them even more interesting and dramatic.
Cannonball Gourd: Easy to craft. The Cannonball Gourd is perfectly round, ranging in size from 4" to 6" in width. As shown on the front of the packet, many techniques may be used: plain, varnished, staned, or painted. Create your won beautiful, decorative collection.
Garden Tip: For best germination nick the seed and do not plant in wet, cold soil. To harvest, cut gourds from the vine about 1" above the fruit.
Drying Tip: Pick gourds when entire vine is dry and brown. After harvesting, gourds should be cleaned with soap and water, dried, and rubbing alcohol applied to the surface. Handle gently and turn weekly as gourds dry in a warm, airy place. Do not cut or decorate until completely dry and seeds rattle.

Seeds of Change S13420 Certified Organic Beet Berry Gourmet Green, 250 Seed Count
Average Reviews:

This plant is also known as Beetberry and seemed an interesting little plant to try because you could use the leaves as spinach salad leaves and the berries in the salad or eaten raw. It's very rare apparently and I've found out why!
The entire first package I bought never germinated. Normally the first batch of any new seed I try I sow some in a pot, and some in two or three places about the garden to see how well they'd catch on in different spots. Nothing happened. I thought maybe I'd got a bad batch so I trawled the Internet for ages trying to find another seller with this seed. I finally found one and ordered another set. I tried again and although some seeds of this new batch did germinate, they only lived a few days before they keeled over and died.
Now I consider myself to have a pretty green thumb, and can usually make things grow when others can't, so...APPROACH WITH CAUTION! I won't say to stay away completely because it's always good to try new plants, and growing conditions are so subjective that maybe it'll work for you even though it didn't for me.
