(More customer reviews)After many years of peeling asparagus with a potato peeler, I finally found one of these great little gadgets and recently bought one for my son as well. I don't care what anyone -- including the exalted people at Cook's Illustrated -- says: asparagus is both prettier and tastier when peeled. I can peel a large bundle from Costco in no time at all with this little lovely. Unlike the potato peeler, it grips the stalk while you're peeling, and hardly ever does the skin stick to it during the process. Learn not to grip it too tightly and start some distance from the tip, and rarely will the stalk break before it's peeled. After cooking the veggie in a steamer basket, I serve it right away -- or if serving with vinaigrette, plunge it into ice water. The greens are gorgeous.
