I originally purchased one of the metal ones that expands, but the one I got was not the best quality and parts were loose so it was returned. I considered a rice maker with steam, a bamboo steamer, or a microwave steamer, but found this silicone one and decided to give it a try. It works very well, and is easy to clean. It is also substantial silicone, and not flimsy and thin like other silicone options. The best part is that you can partically collapse the bottom for shallower pans. The one issue I have found is that the lid does not fit as perfectly as I would like, and I have to invert the lid by pushing the handle down in the center to get a good seal. I returned the first because I thought it was defective, but the replacement had the same issue. Still, I recommend this and feel it is a good purchase.
