(More customer reviews)I just got this grater and I was blown away with how sharp it is! It makes grating so easy. At first I was a little skeptical about the manufacture's claim to having razor sharp teeth but now that I've tried it - I know they are for real. The grater seems to effortlessly shave through everything without tearing or shredding the food. And b/c it was so effortless, I could just hold the grater over my food and grate right onto it. I would highly recommend this grater and will definitely be looking to getting some of their other graters. Cuisipro well done!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this from WS thinking it was cute and would be perfect for zesting lemons. I was wrong. It has an acrylic rim around the metal blade which attaches it to the rubber handle. The plastic broke after only zesting two lemons. I think it has a poor design. The blade is great and until it broke, it did zest the first lemon in about one minute! So I will purchase the all metal Microplane insteadMicroplane Grater/Zester.

Microplane Premium Zester/Grater Review

(More customer reviews)I find this to be a better tool for zesting than the traditional zester. I use less effort zesting with this Microplane to remove only the rind and not get to that white pith that is very bitter. And most of the zest collects underneath the tool or falls from below. A few minor raps and the most of the collected zest fall away. When I use the traditional zesting tool, I get quite a bit of the zest and essential oil on my hands.
This Microplane is fairly easy to wash and clean. But, after washing, hold the handle and shake out the water that collects in the handle. Then place the Microplane with the handle up after washing so the water dries out from the handle.
I see that there is a newer version of this tool with a shorter and wider rasp area. The tool also includes a small and large strip zester.
PROS: Removes the zest with less effort and better control (without removing the bitter pith). Easily collects the zest without it collecting on your hands.
CONS: The rasp and handle area is not totally sealed or removable to either prevent food to collect under the handle or to allow thorough cleaning.

Microplane Premium Extra Coarse Review

The microplaner is great for zesting citrus and the coarse greater is good on cheddar cheese when you just want a little to garnish a dish. I like that they come in different handle colors, so you can distinguish them when they are in your counter crock.

Microplane 47001 Adjustable Slider Food Slicer Review

(More customer reviews)This thing is great! I've tried several mandolines--from the top-of-the-line unit to an inexpensive, but highly rated V-slicer, and another handheld. I sent the former back, gave the V-slicer away and the handheld broke. None of them served my purpose. All the blade changing and/or adjusting with the stationary mandolines was awkward and a lot of trouble considering I wasn't cooking for a restaurant--I just wanted to make salads for one or two, or a variety of other things, but usually in rather small quantities. This slicer is perfect. Now I can slice a leek, a carrot and part of a cucumber directly onto my salad in seconds. I can slice beets or other veggies very quickly and conveniently directly into the pot. The large knob on the bottom of this unit turns easily to create the desired slice thickness and a quick swish and rinse leaves it clean for the next time. I get high-end mandoline quality slices from the super sharp blade, but without all the set up and clean up time. This unit is sturdy and reliable. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Between this and my Alligator dicer, my fruit and vegetable ingredients look professionally prepared and are done in a flash.

This useful tool has been great for helping process summer bounty, most especially with getting the kernels off corncobs so they can be frozen. I've tried other products for that, but they are not satisfactory, where this tool allows me to run the cob down against the blade and in a few passes, all the kernels are in the bowl. I can do several ears in only a few minutes. I use one of those 'Kevlar' gloves to make sure I don't cut myself and it works great. Microplane 34007 Cut Resistant Glove

Microplane 40020 Grater/Zester Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this after spending 2 hours zesting limes for a gourmet cookie recipe with the traditional potato-peeler+ food processor method. The most time consuming part is carefully scraping way all the white pith on the inside of the peel. The pith is very bitter and can ruin your recipe. This zester did the same job in 30 seconds and didn't even touch the pith. Just pure, perfect lime zest with no effort. Totally worth its weight in gold. Now I can make those cookies again without my hands cramping up after hours scraping the peels. Who has time for that?
I've also started using it for grating parmesan. Definately takes Ceaser salads and pasta up a notch. I'm purchasing several more as gifts for my friends. Would make an incredible (and cheap) holiday/birthday gift for anyone, even the casual cook. Please note that the size of the grated zest or cheese is very fine and not ideal as a garnish. Parmesan or Romano grated with this tool melts quickly into the pasta, and doesn't lend much to the presentation. Tastes great, but hard to see. If you're looking for a garnishing tool, this is not it.
