I use it always to quickly peel carrots or potatoes, etc. I recently gave a Zyliss peeler as a gift to a friend. She called with rave reviews to say she used it to shave parmesan. I enthusiastically recommend the Zyliss electric peeler. This battery powered tool is well worth the money.
