(More customer reviews)When I decided to purchase this product, there were only two reviews and both were all right, so I thought I would give it a try. I was specifically looking for something to chop organic matter just a little bit smaller before it went out into the compost bucket on my back porch. In other words, I was not looking for food to be cut very small or uniformly and this processor still doesn't perform-- even after I do most of the chopping for it first. Instead of real chopping blades, it simply has two razor blades. They don't cut much, but after just a few spins they invariably get stuck on something really tough. You know. Like a leaf of spinach or piece of pear. The manufacturers should have just saved the plastic and left the nonskid ring off the bottom; it works so poorly for keeping the processor in place, I exert more effort holding it in place than I do turning the handle.
Don't waste the money on this one!

(More customer reviews)I own every kitchen gadget known to man. Well, okay, I am missing a couple, like the combo microwave and pizza oven. But really, I own just about everything out there for cooking, and this little doohickey is a gem. If you don't cut up your onions into smallish pieces (that is, if you insist on putting a half an onion in rather than quartering it), it may take a little strength to do the first twist or two, but the blades are very sharp and do a wonderful job after that. The other night, I made a killer apple, dried fig and balsamic vinegar glaze using this and it chopped the apples without mushing them at all. I just can't recommend this highly enough. Cleanup is extremely quick and easy as the whole thing is top-rack dishwasher safe.

(More customer reviews)This is my husband's favorite kitchen gadget. He loves homemade salsa and I used to make it for him on special occasions. Then he saw this demonstrated at a hunting show and he bought one. He uses it at least once a week to make pico de gallo. I'm happy because I don't have to make the salsa anymore and he loves this thing. We are buying one for each member of our family this christmas. He's had his for a year now and it's still going strong.

(More customer reviews)If you mainly want to chop onions, tomatoes and herbs, this is a very useful and effective tool. As to salsa, it whips it up in a very few minutes. When your tomato crop comes in this summer, you will love it. (Here's an evil little party secret; even canned tomatoes, hot sauce, onion, and your homegrown cilantro taste better than some bottled salsas and cost a LOT less. It's a great way to use up those mini packets of hotsauce from the fast food taco restaurant)
It's also easy to clean this small bowl. Many people buy mini- processors to avoid cleaning the big, cumbersome bowl of a full-sized food processor. As long as you aren't chopping hard, rubbery stuff like nuts and parmesan cheese, this is an inexpensive, good alternative. And since it is hand-powered, you can make salsa even during a power outtage.

Progressive International Manual Food Chopper and Salsa Maker Review

The handle design has changed (from 2008) and where the handle connects to the lid is now a weak point. out of the 6 that I purchased, 6 broke within the first day. I use these at work for "Salsa Days" and have 3 that we have used since 2008 that still work great. I would recommend against this brand as it is being sold right now...
