(More customer reviews)This isn't the worst quality food you could feed, but it isn't a high quality product, either. Yet the price is comparable to premium quality holistic foods-- probably a marketing decision related to Rachel Ray's starpower? I purchased this during an emergency- an ice storm had begun and I was out of dog food, so I grabbed a small bag at a convenient store on the way home from work. My dogs ate it willingly, although they didn't love it.
Nutrish foods (both the chicken and beef options) have lots of indigestible corn, artificial dyes, and gluten. Corn seems to pass through most dogs nearly undigested, leading to large stools and wasted money. Gluten was the ingredient implicated in the tainted pet food scandals over the last couple of years-- it just isn't a wholesome ingredient, and it's one I tend to avoid. The good things I can say about this food are that it doesn't use yucky slaughterhouse "by-products", and that it includes great vegetable ingredients. Overall, there are worse options on the grocery store shelves, but this is an overpriced, less-than-great food choice for your best pal.

(More customer reviews)I have tried every kibble known to man on my dogs over the years, and this one is the best. I feed a primarily raw diet, but supplement with kibble. Previously Wellness Core had given me fairly good results with allergies etc, but the stools were 'greasy'. I also had them on Orijin, but had horrible sloppy stools on that. I had been searching for a grain free food that had some carbohydrates in it to reduce the protein and fat content, but has no grains. This food ticks all the boxes and then some! Great stools, shiny coats, no more 'eye goop', less hair loss, no more 'itchies'! They have been on it about a month and a half, and the difference in the three girls is absolutely amazing. Love it!

The Test
The neat thing about this food is that it really does look like the photograph on the bag. It consists of smallish kibble with pieces of dried carrots and peas mixed in. When the bag was first opened the girls ate small amounts of Farm Selects unmixed and readily took to it. Since then they've been eating it mixed with their Blue food.
I thought Evie and Piper might fuss with the dried vegetables in there, but they don't specifically target the vegetables to leave behind.
The quality of this food is obvious to one who reads the ingredient list. Only one ingredient, that animal digest, makes me cringe a little. The girls don't mind it a bit. For goodness alone I can heartily recommend this natural food, but the price on it is relatively high. Rachel Ray's dry dog food, for example, is about half the price of Farm Stands Selects, and Buffalo Blue is about the same price. For a household like ours with three dogs, the Farm Stands Selects is too pricey to feed the girls exclusively. We'd feel obliged to mix another good, but less expensive food with it. For those with one pet and for whom money is not an issue, I say you can't go wrong with Farm Selects.

My two dogs a very discriminating great pyrenees mix and a lab mix devoured this food which I mixed with the organix Ultramix in record time.

This is a brand and flavor that my dog eats regularly, which we purchase from PetCo and have purchased in the past from Amazon. He has never had any problem with it until this case. Some of the cans were dented and I believe it must have been exposed to high heat or something. I've thrown out can after can that has caused him to be ill. I have waited several days before trying another can, and again, the same thing. He has been throwing up all day. I will never purchased canned food from Amazon again.

(More customer reviews)we've been feeding our french bulldog puppy this for the last 2 months since we have been shopping around for a regular food to settle on. our dog has a breed-specific sensitive stomach and in comparison with all food she ingests, she definitely needs something with red meat in the first few listings of the dog food's ingredient list. we're satisfied with the food's quality and she doesn't seem to be a picky eater, but we'll be looking more into something with red meat as one of the most prominent ingredients used.

While many dog food manufacturers use real lamb - and not lamb meal - in their adult formulas, this is the ONLY manufacturer that uses real lamb in its Puppy Formula as well. Hounds have sensitive stomaches and lamb digests best without upsetting their stomaches. It also promotes a shiny, healthy coat while minimizing shedding and flakey skin conditions that are experienced by some breeds. The food nuggets are small in size and appropriate for all breeds and sizes of dogs; the nutritional values are the highest or on level with that of many so-called "premium" brands - and better than that of some. I have fed Premium Edge Lamb - both adult and puppy - to my Salukis for 12 years and heartily recommend it. Read the order of ingredients in your pet's food; they are listed in the order of most to least included in the product. "Lamb meal" contains ground bone and other waste as well as the meat itself; this manufacturer uses only the Meat.
