(More customer reviews)Science aside, these little disks really work. All my produce has a longer life in the refrigerator drawers because of them. The disks are said to last about 3 months--mine didn't stop for 4. No more surprises like a collapsed zucchini or furry fruit in the bins. I'm sold.

(More customer reviews)I just received mine from Amazon, and I was very pleased at how easy it is to set up and use. It can run on batteries, but I used the included AC adapter. Simply plug in the unit, place your items inside, close the lid, and snap the clasp closed. The machine immediately starts humming as it creats a vacuum: about two minutes to complete the process. I was able to fit in a loaf of bread, several muffins and 6 bananas. To open, simply undo the clasp and wait a few seconds. Only time will tell, of course, if the iTouchless fresh sealer will hold up to constant use. I shall update in a few months.
UPDATE: Update sooner than I thought: the machine works well. However, a brief word about bananas.
If you place a green banana inside the iTouchless, vacuum seal, then let it be for a week, at the end of the week the banana will still be green (or slightly yellowing). However, open the banana and it will be well-ripen. The banana simply ripens as if it were out on the counter for the week. All you do is keep the skin looking newish. The 'green' banana I had this morning had the inside of an almost blackened banana: very mushy. It is obvious that the 'meat' of a banana cares nothing for our feeble attempts to prolong its life.
The iTouchless does work well with bread and apples, to date. Again, very easy to use. I still recommend, just do not purchase for the sole purpose of keeping bananas fresh longer.
UPDATE FEBRUARY 15, 2008: I agree with the 'one star' reviewer: the unit does generate some heat. Not enough to melt chocolate or such, but noticeable. I would not try to keep items like cherries, grapes, etc., inside this iTouchless. When I tried items that have a high moisture content there would soon be moisture inside the bubble top, and leads to spoilage.
After a year of usage I would downgrade my recommendation to 3 stars. It is good within its narrow range, but the heat it generates does, as the one-star reviewer noted, actually speed up molding in some fruits. Pity.

The Tupperware Apple and Grape Fruit Lockers are terrific. I used them, along with Tupperware's Rock N Serve Divided Dish, for my husband's lunches. They are a good size, not small. I peeled and sectioned two oranges for the apple locker and put mixed green and red grapes in the grape food locker. They kept the fruit safe from being crushed and he didn't have any leaks on the rest of his lunch. The apple is also great for cottage cheese or coleslaw and the grape container holds a big slice of pie. We have five sets of these and use them all. They are excellent for road trip snacks. He said he had never received as many comments before as he received on these. Men and women alike wanted to get them for themselves. Now that he is retired they still come in handy. We use them along with our Tupperware 3 Piece Impressions Bowl Set in Red and Green that holds a nice variety of snacks and, for beverages, we use the Tupperware Impressions Tumbler Set outside. Using unbreakable dinnerware, especially with grandchildren by the pool, is a good safety measure and, as a bonus, they look festive. ~ Mrs. B.

(More customer reviews)Unfortunately, I've ordered more than my share of FoodSaver products, having bought into the philosophy of vacuum storage, despite reading ample warnings from discontented consumers.
What many of them claim is very much to the point: plastic containers frequently develop cracks and loss of vacuum. I've had many of their marinators and storage canisters prove defective after less than 10 uses. It seems to be related to the material properties and container size characteristics. The smaller containers seem to last longer. Those with thick walls relative to the specified volume or reinforcing structures seem to last just a bit longer.
In plain language, the plastic containers are unreliable. FoodSaver should develop materials and designs that can handle the stress of the vacuum cycling placed on them, or quit the the business. Since their products have been on the market for many years, I can only assume they are more interested in recruiting new customers than satisfying existing customers. If you like filling out warranty forms every few weeks, more power to you.
Bottle sealers are equally worthless. Every one that I bought lost vacuum in short order. In one case, a defective seal resulted in a spill of cooking oil that damaged a nylon tent and other camping gear.
FoodSaver has done a good job with certain items in their product line. The vacuum unit is well designed and performs reliably, as long as the instuctions are followed. The bagging system is unassailable, even though the cost of the bags and rolls is quite high (read Consumer Reports reviews). And, to be fair, their Universal lids are excellent. Use them to seal small glass jars or stainless steel bowls, and there is no loss of vacuum due to cracked plastic.
Bottom line? Be careful which products you buy. Some are excellent, while others are pure junk.

(More customer reviews)If you are tired of placing a cut tomato in a plastic storage bag inside the refrigerator, whether in the crisper or not, and then, upon retrieving it, find it to be damp and soggy, ususally unusable, with this terrific product your problems are over.
Frankly, when I purchased it, I had my doubts as to its effectiveness. Yes, it was small and pretty in its tomato design, but I couldn't see how it would help keeping cut tomatoes fresh, even though the product is described as "air tight." I'm still not sure HOW it works, but I sure do know THAT it works. When I'm ready to reuse the tomato, it is just as though I had just placed it in the refrigerator.
So no more soggy, wet tomatoes for me! Glad to have found a solution.

Even if your refrigerator is packed full of leftovers, take a quick look where you store this container when it's empty, and if it's missing, you know it's in the refrigerator somewhere. It's also truly safe for the dishwasher's top rack. I had previously purchased a tomato saver unlike this design and it was not dishwasher safe as advertised. This design works well and cleans easily.
